- Farewell to 2024 - and Welcome to 2025
With just an hour to go to midnight on New Year's Eve, members and guests raise their glasses to say "goodbye" to 2024. Members of Stanway Rovers Football Club, and our guests, said "Cheers to 2024 - and welcome to 2025" at our very popular "New Year's Eve Disco and Party". Once again, our annual event was a sell-out, as members and guests gathered together to see out the old year and welcome in the new year in the traditional way - with eating, drinking, dancing and singing. 2024 was a year of lows and highs for Stanway Rovers: we started the year gathering together in March to say our fondest goodbyes and to pay respect to our lifelong friend and club stalwart, Peter Cracknell, who sadly passed away in February - see this post we finished the 2023-2024 season on several "highs", with our: First Team: becoming "Double Cup Winners", winning both the Errington Cup and the Peter Butcher Memorial Cup in May Errington Cup win Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy Cup win Walking Football: Our Saturday Walking Team finished the walking season as winners of Division 4 of the Over 50's Saturday Essex League. - Santa in the heart of Stanway - 18th December 2024
Stanway Rovers Football Club, at the heart of Stanway community activities at Christmas. Santa, accompanied by Lightning McQueen is visiting Stanway Rovers Football Club: Date: Wednesday 18th December 2024 Time: Departs our football club at 6pm After they depart Stanway Rovers Football Club Car Park at 6pm, Santa and Lightning McQueen will be travelling around Stanway. Why? Three main reasons: Because they can To entertain, thrill, wave to and excite the children of Stanway (oh yes, of course, and adults too) To collect food for Colchester Food Bank, for those people who will be struggling to put food onto their own tables this Christmas As Santa and Lightning McQueen will be travelling very slowly, it is very difficult to predict timings accurately, but it is intended that they will be stopping as follows: 6:00pm - depart Stanway Rovers Football Club 6:45pm - Oakwoods Meadows Estate 7:20pm - Lakelands Estate So, dress up against the cold, and bring plenty of loud cheering and food suitable for the food bank. And if they are running late, don't wait patiently, instead wait excitedly - as you know they are on their way, and they will be there soon.
